The Fayetteville Public School Board is advancing plans to build a “New” Ramay Junior High School, east of the North College/Poplar intersection. The site location is on an unstable, steeply-sloping hillside, fully covered by an Urban Forest of healthy hundred year-old native trees.
While we support the need for a new junior high in our community, construction on the slope will require more than double the expense of new schools in neighboring districts and pose major safety risks to students and residents.
CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR ADDED INFORMATION AND UPDATES
The project will increase traffic congestion, create construction hazards, and cause lasting environmental damage. We want:
A complete restructuring of the existing Woodland Junior High School for the “New” Ramay
OR selection of a level, more suitable site that prioritizes safety and protects our natural heritage.
How can you get involved and help this initiative?
Vote against the millage! Early voting starts February 17th! Polls open through March 3rd.

Why is the location is a dangerous choice?
Site steepness varies from 15%-22%, an obstacle to pedestrian and traffic safety
Not walkable or bikeable for students who live nearby, leading to traffic increase on College and neighboring streets
Tree removal for development, paving, and roofing will increase flash flood potential and erosion impacts to residents and down slope properties
Thousands of dump truck trips to haul excavated material away and fill to the site
Added cost to City for flash flood mitigation and road repairs due to damage by construction
Sublet Creek - Floodway FEMA regulated
Difficulty accessing site as an emergency shelter
